Eve was born in London England the daughter of actors Trevor Eve and Sharon Maughan. Eve has two brothers younger than her: Jack and George and was raised in the United Kingdom and Los Angeles United States. She completed her studies at Bedales School after which she went on to take A Levels with Westminster School. During her time off, she spent time at Beverly Hills Playhouse. Then at St Catherine's College Oxford, she studied English. In Oxford Eve was a part of several student productions including An Ideal Husband Animal Crackers that toured The Edinburgh Fringe Festival Scenes from an Execution as well as The Colour of Justice. Eve has starred in TV dramas, including British Broadcasting Corporation's The Rotters Club Poirot and Hawking in addition to the movie Stage Beauty (2004). Eve played significant roles in two films from 2006: Starter for 10 and Big Nothing (with both she as well as co-star Simon Pegg using American accents). Eve was able to spend a significant portion in the beginning of 2006 in India on a drama series known as Losing Gemma. Eve has been in two plays both written by Trevor Nunn. In 2006, she was on stage in Rock n Roll a new production by Tom Stoppard at the Royal Court Theatre and then reprised her role in 2007's Broadway transfer. She is from a multiracial family and is the daughter of an Indian-British father who is of British descent Anthony Mitra, and an Irish-born mother Nora Downey. She is an English actress is a middle-aged child. She is the older sister of Jason Mitra and a younger brother called Guyan Mitra. Her younger brother, Guyan Mitra, is a renowned journalist for travel who's work has been published on Lonely Planet as well as The Sunday Times.
